Messages of Condolence

  • I only knew Irene for 3 years when I moved to live in Rhuddlan Court. We often had chats and I found Irene to be friendly and engaging with a lot of interesting little stories about her past life ,quite fascinating really. I will miss Irene, as a neighbour and feel sad that our developing friendship was short. RIP Irene and so pleased I knew you if only for a short time xx

  • My husband and I met Irene through a mutual friend when we all lived in Paris, quite some time ago now. She pitched in when we entertained, greeting guests at the door and getting them settled. She was a smart, funny, interesting person, who was always well dressed and had a passing resemblance to the comedian Jennifer Saunders. We stayed in touch over the years. Irene was extremely proud of her family, and enjoyed sharing their latest news. She was a lovely person, a very good friend, and will be sorely missed.

  • I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Irene. She meant so much to our family, and we will never forget the beautiful friendship she shared with my mother.

  • Irene was my aunt and we reconnected through Facebook about 10yrs ago after Irene and my mum, Elma, lost contact many years ago. I loved hearing her stories of her life after she left Scotland and what an interesting and varied life she certainly had, from her voluntary work in Chester hospital and the Salvation Army to her love of limoncello when on holiday in Italy! She was such a comfort to me when I lost my husband 4yrs ago and for months afterwards would text me every single morning to check i was ok. She was so proud of her grandchildren Beth and Oliver and keep me posted on their progress towards adulthood. She loved Tilly the dog and would send photos of her loving her best doggy life. RIP Irene 💐 xxx

  • Irene was my half sister and I’ll never forget that she was placed in my arms when I was 6yrs old a few minutes after she was born and I thought she was the most beautiful baby in the world. My thoughts are with Ashley, Jen, Oliver and Beth at this sad time. Rest in Peace Irene xxx

  • Aunt Irene, it was lovely knowing you after you and my Mum (Elma) connected after many years although Mum always spoke about you as we were growing up.
I enjoyed our ‘phone conversations chatting and laughing about numerous subjects and we all kept in touch on our little messenger ‘family group’ sending updates, occasional photographs and fun jokes.
    You will be missed.

My thoughts are with Ashley, Jen, Oliver and Beth at this sad time.
    Sleep in peace Irene 🌹

    Sent with love,

  • Irenie,

It’s hard to find the words to say goodbye. We spoke most days, putting the world to rights, sharing our thoughts, our laughter, and sometimes our worries. We were always there for each other, each with a listening ear, and those conversations became such an important part of my life.

Your friendship was a true gift. I will always treasure the kindness, understanding, and laughter we shared. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and for all the memories we made together.

Rest peacefully, dear friend. You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever hold a special place in my heart.

  • Humorous, fun, diplomatic, generous, enthusiastic, interested, interesting, kind, cheerful, tactful, chic, classy…these come to mind when I think of Irene. We became fast friends from the moment I met her in France years ago and we kept in touch over the years, though the distance separated us. She cheered me on in all my ventures, encouraged me and gave advice from her own experience. My life changed in some important ways because of Irene and I will ever be grateful for having known her. Irene has a special place in my heart.

She spoke so highly of her son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren of whom she was immensely proud. I pray they will be comforted in this difficult time.
